Dear Parent/Guardian:
This letter is to inform you that there will be a Therapy Dog in our school, every Monday at lunch. Dogs will have a handler and they will be located in the Library Seminar Room. These dogs will be here to support John F. Ross students.
These service dogs are provided by Sunshine Therapy Dogs and are trained Therapy Animals that will help calm students and help reduce student anxiety. This accommodation is pursuant to the Ministry of Education’s Policy Program Memorandum 163: School Board Policies on Service Animals.
Students will be instructed as to the proper procedure regarding interaction with the Therapy animals. They will be informed that the therapy animal is a working animal and not a pet while at school.
If you have any specific concerns regarding the presence of the Therapy animal in the school, please contact Chad Warren (Principal).
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Sincerely,
Principal
