Attendance Policy

We believe that regular attendance and punctuality are required for academic success, and that both
are also desirable work habits.

Acceptable Absences

  1.  School related activities (trips, teams, groups)
  2.  Illness
  3.  Bereavement
  4.  Unavoidable causes (medical appointments, emergencies)
  5.  Religious Holidays

Notes for acceptable absences must detail one of the above reasons, include the dates of the
absence, be signed and dated by a parent/guardian, or by you if you are 18, and be provided to your
Home Room teacher on the day that you return to school. Failure to bring in a note will result in
the absence being considered a skip.

Skips

Unacceptable absences are called skips and all students who skip, regardless of age have chosen to receive the following consequences for each class skipped in any subject:

Skip # Action that will be taken
1. 1 lunch hour detention, phone call home
2. 2 lunch hour detentions, phone call home
3. 3 lunch hour detentions, a letter home re: concerns and suspension warning, interview with Vice Principal
4. Further skips result in suspensions

following consequence for each late:

1. Warning by subject teacher
2. 1 detention, phone call home, interview with the Vice Principal
