A Great Way to be Involved

Every year, School Councils have a positive impact on the schools they serve. On September 21st, our School Council will be holding it’s first virtual meeting for the 2021-22 school year starting at 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome!! A minimum of 4 meetings will be held throughout the school year. At these meetings, you can keep current with what’s happening at Victoria Cross Public School, understand the systems within the school and meet other parents in the area.  All parents are welcome to all meetings. If you aren’t able to attend, minutes to our meetings will be posted on our website under the School Council tab.

In June, our current School Council members decided that nominations for Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary would be completed prior to our first meeting. If you or anyone else would like to be involved at that level, please fill in the attached form and return it to the school by Sept. 20th @4:00. These forms can be emailed directly to the school or you can send it in with your child (addressed to the office)

UGDSB Ventilation Report

The UGDSB is continuing its work optimizing air quality in classrooms and learning environments through improving ventilation and filtration. Upgrades to ventilation and filtration systems began in the 2020-21 school year and will continue for the 2021-22 school year.

The UGDSB has received funding from the Provincial Government and Federal Government to allow the board to continue its work in optimizing ventilation and air quality in UGDSB schools and meet the provincial requirements for ventilation measures in schools. The UGDSB is also making investments in schools to go above and beyond the provincial requirements, as another layer of the protective strategies the board is utilizing to keep UGDSB learning and working spaces safe for students and staff.

Visit UGDSB Ventilation Report page for full details.

A New School Year and A New Principal

Hello Victoria Cross Families!

I am excited to be starting off this school year at VCPS! My name is Mrs. Reiner and I am the new principal. The amazing VCPS staff and I have been working hard to prepare the classrooms and the school for our September 7th start day! The Ministry of Education have released their new COVID guidelines for schools this year.  As many of you know, this is shifting ground and the rules change as case numbers change and new science emerges.  We will do our best to let families know about significant changes to these plans if/when they change.  If you are interested in reading out the Ministry of Educations School Reopening Plan, you can find it here:  Reopening Plan.

Many families ask about what schools supplies they should purchase for their children. If you are looking for recommendations for what to purchase for your child(ren), please see the attached document that outlines all of our  VCPS School Start Up Information for Families.

If you are looking for the 2021-22 School Year calendar, with all of the holidays and PD days listed, you can you can find it here:  2021-22 School Year Calendar

Please continue to stay up to date by checking this website regularly and using the UGConnect app to get updates directly to your phone.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on September 7th!
