COVID-19 Update

Posted November 20, 2020

Dear Students, Parents/Guardians, and Staff,

Public Health has notified us that a second individual in our school has tested positive for COVID-19 today.  At this time, Public Health has stated that there appears to be no link between the first case and the second case. They have also determined that this second case was not transmitted within the school, and that it originated outside of the school.

A letter from Public Health, that explains what the health unit and school are doing to prevent any further spread of the virus in the school and the community, has already been shared.  Please see this link: Public Health Letter  if you would like to read a copy of this letter.

We will continue to work closely with Public Health and take their direction as they complete their investigation. Where Public Health determines there was a transmission risk to others in the school, they perform a risk assessment for any contacts. All students and staff determined to be at high risk of exposure will be directed to isolate and recommended to be tested within their isolation period.

So you are aware, the school board is required to post information about positive cases in a school setting on the board website. You can find that link here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/community/coronavirus/reopening-schools-plan/covid-19-advisory-reporting

The identity of the individual is protected by privacy legislation and will not be shared.

This weekend, the school will receive another special cleaning and sanitization to ensure the safety of our school community.  The school remains open, and Public Health deems it safe for students to return to classes on Monday.

If you have questions, please contact Public Health at 519-822-2715 ext. 7006. We will get through this together, Wolverines.

Mr. B. Bloch

Principal
