Quadmester 2, OSSLT information for secondary students and parents

Please read the information below for important details on Quadmester 2.
Quadmester 1 Final Report Cards
Quadmester 1 Final Report Cards from all schools will be mailed home on November 23, 2020.

Timetable Information
Staff have been working over the past several weeks to prepare for Quadmester 2. Students will receive their timetables by November 9, 2020.
As with Quadmester 1, students will not be able to switch between in-class instruction and remote learning during the quadmester. Students will be given an option to change from in-person to remote, or from remote to in-person for subsequent quadmesters. It is also important to note that only essential timetable change requests will be reviewed leading up to the beginning of the quadmester. Students will not be permitted to switch between their assigned cohorts.
Cohorts and Individual School Schedules/Information
Students and parents will be informed of specific school-based information, as well as student cohorts, no later than Monday, November 9, 2020, by 4:00 pm.
Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) Update
The literacy graduation requirement will be waived for all students in a position to graduate during the 2020-21 school year. The Ministry of Education is continuing to explore a field test of the online OSSLT in Spring 2021, which could allow the opportunity for non-graduating students to write the test and have successful attempts counted on their transcript. We will provide further updates when we receive information and direction from the Ministry.
Important Upcoming Dates
- November 11, 2020: End of Quadmester 1
- November 12-13, 2020: Quadmester turnaround days (students do not attend, with the exception of students in self contained placements)
- November 16, 2020: First day of Quadmester 2 instruction (see calendar below)
- November 23, 2020: Quadmester 1 report cards mailed home – all students
- November 27, 2020: PD Day (elementary and secondary – no classes for students)
- December 21, 2020 to January 1, 2021: Winter Break
