Literacy Test

Each year the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) conducts the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

The OSSLT measures whether students are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9. Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

All Grade 10 and 11, as well as non-graduating Grade 12 students, should participate in the test and, if successful, have it counted on their transcript as a graduation requirement.

Westside students had an opportunity to write the Literacy Test in November 2022. Any student who was absent or unsuccessful on this attempt will have another opportunity to write on Wednesday March 29, 2023.

Results from the Fall OSSLT are expected to be available by the end of January 2023.
