EQAO Gr 10

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) measures whether students are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9.

All students are required to meet the secondary school literacy graduation requirement in order to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

On Tuesday, November 18th, Grade 10 students at Centennial will be writing the OSSLT in Homeroom classes.

Students will complete the test in two sessions (Session A and Session B). Each session is designed to be completed between 60-75 minutes, and students will complete each session in one sitting. Additional time may be provided for any students who require it. After completing both sessions, students will be presented with a questionnaire that asks them about their experiences, attitudes, and perceptions with respect to literacy.

Each student will receive an Individual Student Report after the scoring of the test by EQAO. The school will make these reports available to students in late January or early February.

Students have been preparing for the test in their Grade 10 classes and are encouraged to become familiar with the online test and its accessibility tools through EQAO’s online practice test. For more information, you are encouraged to contact the school or visit EQAO’s website at www.eqao.com
