As a gay man, he was persecuted in 1952 and sentenced to treatment designed to (ineffectively) make him straight. Today, Alan Turing is recognized as “the father of theoretical computer science” and the 2017 “Alan Turing Law” was created in his honour to pardon all men who had ever been convicted for homosexuality. Today’s Quote by Alan Turing is: “Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine.”
