Recommended reading in Indigenous education and knowledge

This year, Upper Grand DSB board and school staff groups have continued organizing and participating in book studies, focusing on furthering learning in anti-racism and anti-oppression.

One staff book study that just wrapped up is Decolonizing Education: Nourishing the Learning Spirit by Marie Battiste. This book is recommended for all folks working in the school system. Battiste “documents the nature of Eurocentric models of education, and their devastating impacts on Indigenous knowledge.”
