COVID-19 CASE- THURSDAY DECEMBER 16TH, 2021

Dear parents/guardians and staff,

WDG Public Health has notified us that an individual in our school has tested positive for COVID-19. Public health informed us that they are treating all cases  with the same procedure as with the Omicron variant. As a result, Public Health has directed 2 classes to self-isolate, as part of their established infection prevention and control measures.  Please note a change in isolation requirements for students deemed to be high-risk contacts, as outlined in the letter. This includes a requirement to isolate for ten days regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status.

Instructions for household members (i.e. siblings) was also provided in the high-risk contact letter.  If you have questions, please visit the “For Schools” section of the WDGPH website: https://wdgpublichealth.ca. Our building is safe and remains open to staff and students. As always, custodial staff will ensure thorough cleaning and disinfecting of affected areas in the school, as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol.

We will continue to work closely with Public Health and take their direction as they complete their investigation. Where Public Health determines there was a transmission risk to others in the school, they will perform a risk assessment for any contacts. All students and staff determined to be at high risk of exposure will be directed to isolate and recommended to be tested within their isolation period.

Thank you.
