Do you want amazing results when you bring your class to the Library? Book your class in the library well in advance.
Discuss your needs and our resources with the Teacher-Librarian ahead of time. Accompany your class to the library; don’t send them without you or with a supply teacher. Check out our resources and the best research strategies for an assignment ahead of time. The librarians will be glad to help you.
Prepare your students for their research before they come to the library. They will be much more focused and successful, and you will have fewer behaviour and plagiarism problems if they:
- Already know their topics.
- Have discussed in class the requirements of the assignment and ways to be successful.
- Have brainstormed their prior knowledge, inquiry questions, possible sources of the information and possible key words to use. (the template provided works really well if you require your students to fill it out thoughtfully before they come to the library.
- Have them hand in their notes to you at the end of the period. This really works – try it!
