Hot and humid conditions are expected.  Hot and humid air can bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high-risk category. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. UGDSB approves new Indigenous Education policy

This policy states that the Upper Grand District School Board acknowledges that Indigenous Peoples are distinct from other equity seeking groups in that they are self-determining nations with inherent rights, laws, and institutions. Indigenous rights are distinct. It is the goal of the UGDSB to ensure that Indigenous staff and students are not deprived of their rights, and are provided with a learning and working environment that is free from racism and discrimination of any kind.

Clarification regarding remote learning program for the 2021-22 school year

Please note that the Upper Grand District School Board remote learning program for the 2021-22 school year will NOT be a “hybrid model.” Students who register for remote school will be placed in the standalone elementary or secondary remote schools, where classes/courses are staffed by dedicated remote learning teachers.

A new weekend program for Indigenous families begins this September. Anishinaabemowin Nanda-gikendan – “Seeking to Learn the Language” – will run on Saturdays from 9-11:30am, from Sept. 18, 2021, to May 28, 2022.

Draft school year calendars for 2021-22 approved

At the Board Meeting held on April 27, 2021, trustees approved draft school year calendars for the 2021-2022 school year for elementary and secondary schools in the Upper Grand DSB. The draft calendars will now be submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval.
