DELF:
The Diplôme d’études en langue française (English: Diploma in French Language Studies), or DELF for short, is a certification of French-language abilities for non-native speakers of French administered by the International Centre for French Studies (Centre international d’études pédagogiques, or CIEP) for France’s Ministry of Education.
Students who achieve a level B1 are eligible to apply to university programs in France.

Course Descriptions
FSF1D – Grade Nine Academic French: The aim of Grade 9 Single-Streamed French is to develop communication skills in all 4 strands (listening, speaking, reading and writing) while exploring personal topics of interest, to learn about French cultures throughout the world and to develop a deeper appreciation of language learning and bilingualism
FSF2P – Grade Ten Applied French: The aim of Grade 10 Applied French is to further develop listening and speaking skills as well as reading and writing skills through the thematic study of a variety of subjects and to increase appreciation of French cultures throughout the world. Prerequisite: FSF1P or FSF1D
FSF2D – Grade Ten Academic French: The aim of Grade 10 Academic French is to further develop independent communication skills in all 4 strands (listening, speaking, reading and writing) while exploring a variety of topics of personal and social interest, to learn about French cultures throughout the world and to develop a deeper appreciation of language learning and bilingualism. Prerequisite: FSF1D
FSF3U – Grade Eleven University French: The aim of Grade 11 University French is to further develop independent communication skills in all 4 strands while exploring a variety of social and academic topics, to learn about French cultures throughout the world and to develop a lifelong appreciation of language learning and bilingualism. Prerequisite: FSF2D
FSF4U – Grade Twelve University French: The aim of Grade 12 University French is to develop proficient, independent communication skills in all 4 strands through the study of a variety of topics, both concrete and abstract, to learn about French cultures throughout the world and to develop a lifelong appreciation of language learning and bilingualism. Prerequisite: FSF3U
