3rd annual Show and Shine to support ‘Hair Off for Headwaters’ at CDDHS

May 20, 2016

On Friday, Centre Dufferin District High School hosted its third annual Show and Shine in Shelburne.

More than 220 grade 8 students toured the shops, checked out cool vehicles, and helped support “Hair Off for Headwaters,” a fundraiser benefitting Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville. High school students came out as well to enjoy the festivities. There was food and music, not to mention lots of great looking cars and motorcycles.

The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program provided food and drinks for the many volunteers and community members, and shared information about careers in the trades with the students, parents and educators in attendance. Linamar Corporation had a booth where they shared information about working for the company. Linamar has hired a number of CDDHS graduates in the past few years.

All the proceeds from the day were donated to the Headwaters fundraiser. Over the years, CDDHS students and staff has raised more than $135,000 for Headwaters’ Cancer Care Program.

Many students got a chance to showcase their work and classic vehicles to local businesses and community members.

A special thanks to Auto Centre Trillium Ford, Oatman’s Car Restoration, major sponsor SHSM, and the many people from the community who came out and helped make the day a great success.
