Dufferin community members honoured for dedication to the arts

GUELPH, Ontario – Two members of the Dufferin arts community have been honoured for their commitment to the arts.

The Dufferin Youth Festival of the Arts (DYFA) were held on April 26 to 29. On April 27, Tom Wisnicki and Ann McAlpine were celebrated at the DYFA Excellence in the Arts award ceremony.

The Award of Excellence in the Arts was inaugurated in 2009 by the DYFA to celebrate exceptional commitment to the arts in the education community.

Wisnicki, a principal at Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School, received the DYFA Award of Excellence in the Arts and McAlpine, a former principal in the Upper Grand and DYFA Volunteer Coordinator, received the Excellence in the Arts Volunteer Award.

The awards ceremony was held at Princess Margaret Public School in Orangeville.

The DYFA is a student arts festival showcasing curriculum-based instrumental and vocal music, visual arts, dance and drama.
