Guelph Police accepting student applications for Youth in Policing Initiative

GUELPH, Ontario – Guelph Police are looking for youth who are eager to play a vital role in their community.

Applications are now being accepted for the Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI). Over the course of eight weeks this summer, selected students will have the change to work with the Guelph Police, participating in educational and community activities related to policing and community leadership.

Selected students will gain valuable experience in the field of policing and the many different sectors of the police service (including Canine, Communications, Traffic and the Tactical Unit), develop leadership skills, become CPR and First Aid Certified, and will contribute to the work environment through meaningful work assignments.

YIPI is a full-time, paid summer position, running Monday to Friday for eight weeks.

To be eligible for the program students must be between the ages of 15 and 18, must reside in Guelph and must be returning to school in September 2017.

Applications are being accepted until April 23, 2017. To apply online, visit the YIPI application page and complete the form. Applications can also be downloaded from the Guelph Police website and submitted in person at the Guelph Police Service station.
