Internet restrictions ahead of EQAO assessments

May 15, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – Over the next few days, the UGDSB will be implementing a number of measures to improve our network capacity. These measures will reduce the bandwidth previously used for personal use in order to increase the bandwidth we use for academic purposes.

This is particularly important to ensure the success of the upcoming EQAO assessment in our schools. A new network will be dedicated to our elementary schools’ wireless channels, which will support network traffic during Elementary EQAO assessments and free up existing network for our secondary schools.

Additionally, access to various internet services used primarily for non-academic purposes will be temporarily blocked or significantly reduced. Following the EQAO assessment window, we will analyze the data and determine what services can be restored.

We appreciated everyone’s understanding as we work to improve our network capacity and ensure success during the EQAO assessment period.
