Parents reminded to confirm placement at FI holding site by March 21

March 15, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – Parents and guardians whose child has been offered placement at a French Immersion (FI) regional holding site for the 2017-18 year are being reminded to confirm their placement by the March 21st deadline.

The Upper Grand District School Board established two FI regional holding sites for next school year, at Willow Road Public School and Parkinson Centennial Public School. These holding sites are for FI waitlisted students in the City of Guelph and the County of Dufferin.

A regional holding site is a one-year only JK placement with French language instruction, in anticipation of a possible JK FI placement. If no JK FI placement occurs for a student by the end of the 2017-18 school year, they will return to their English track home school for Senior Kindergarten.

Parents/guardians were notified by email on February 28 of their child’s registration status for the UGDSB’s FI program, including if they were offered a spot at a regional holding site. If parents refuse the offer or do not reply by March 21, their child will be removed from their home school’s FI waitlist.
