University Information Program visits Norwell

GUELPH, Ontario — Students and their parents will get an opportunity to speak in person with multiple university representatives at the University Information Program (UIP) at Norwell District Secondary School in Palmerston on October 26.

As the deadline for university applications is early in the New Year, this event is timely and helpful as it lets high school students and their parents make connections with a variety of schools and programs, demystifying not only the application procedures but some of the unique elements of university life.

Students can roam the library and E.C. Gray Foyer at Norwell and individually visit representatives from the 21 universities participating in the program. Also included are general information sessions where students can learn about campus life, application procedures scholarships, residence and more.

Pam TarBush, Head of Guidance at the school says, “The program is designed to assist graduating students make an informed decision as they finalize their applications to universities.

“It also assists younger students with their high school course selections so they can meet the criteria required to apply to the university program of their choice in the future.”

The event is being held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday October 26. It’s organized by the Standing Committee on Secondary School Liaison of the Ontario University Registrars’ Association, the Council of Ontario Universities and the Universities Application Centre.
