Building and renovating schools in Guelph and Orangeville

GUELPH, Ontario — Ontario has approved $26.84 million for a new elementary school and four secondary school renovation projects in Guelph and for a major elementary school addition in Orangeville. This will provide students with modern and improved places to learn while creating local construction jobs.
Local projects include:
- A new elementary school in East Guelph anticipated to be opened in 2015-16;
- A 236 pupil place addition to the new school in Orangeville that is currently under construction that is anticipated to be completed in 2015-16;
- Renovation of the Guelph secondary schools (Centennial CVI, College Heights SS, John F Ross CVI and Guelph CVI) to address program upgrades with a completion date anticipated in 2016-2017.
Building new schools and modernizing learning spaces is part of the government’s economic plan that is creating jobs for today and tomorrow. The comprehensive plan and its six priorities focus on Ontario’s greatest strengths — its people and strategic partnerships.
