Celebrate speech and hearing during the month of May

May 8, 2020

GUELPH, Ontario – May is speech and hearing month in Canada. Every year, Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) dedicates May to raising awareness about communication health.

According to the SAC website, they “work to highlight the importance of early detection and intervention in the treatment of communication disorders, and the role that members and associates play in helping people to ‘Speak well. Hear well. Live will.’”

The Upper Grand District School Board is celebrating speech and hearing this month by highlighting communication disorders and the strategies parents can use to support their children’s communication skills.

The UGDSB Communication, Language and Speech Services and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services teams have a great website for parents and guardians of students with communication disorders.  This website has many helpful resources that parents and guardians can explore.
