CWDHS student to represent Canada at Cycling World Championship

June 22, 2017

FERGUS, Ontario – Centre Wellington District High School student Ethan has been selected to represent Canada at the UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Italy this summer.

The UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships are taking place in Montichiari, Italy, from August 23 to 27.

Ethan will be joining 12 others representing Canada at this year’s championships. The 17-year-old CWDHS student will be competing with the men’s endurance team.

In just over a year, Ethan went from just starting racing on the track to being selected to represent Canada. Riding for the National Cycling Centre in Hamilton, he won gold with Team Ontario in the Team Pursuit at the National championships in April and bronze in the Individual Pursuit in February.

Ethan also became the Provincial Junior Road Race Champion in June, a fantastic result as a first year junior. He is currently in Ottawa to race the Global Relay National Road Race Championships, where he will compete for the National title in the Road Race, Time Trial and Criterium against the best juniors in Canada.

Congratulations, Ethan, the UGDSB will be cheering you on this summer!
