CWs Souper Bowl lunch raises funds for muscular dystrophy and brain cancer research

December 9, 2015

On Wednesday, staff at Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus brought out their games faces – and best recipes – to raise funds for muscular dystrophy and brain cancer research.

β€œThe Souper Bowl,” a football-themed fundraiser, was hosted by CWDHS DECA students. More than 30 teachers prepared a pot of their favourite soup of chili recipe to sell to staff and students at lunch hour.

Tickets were sold for $5, which included a bowl of soup or chili plus a bun and milk, with proceeds going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases, and to CW Cares, which is a student council initiative. The proceeds donated to CW Cares will help support a student suffering from a brain tumour. The event raised more than $1,000.

The team with crowned with the honour of most popular recipe was Principal Chad Warren, Vice Principals Adam Rowden and Bob School and staff member Carienne Wilhelm.
