Don’t trash it! John McCrae PS holding e-waste collection event

For Immediate Release
May 31, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – Need a place to drop off your unwanted electronics? John McCrae Public School is hosting an electronic waste collection event this spring.

On Sat. June 11, members of the public can drop off their used, unwanted or broken electronics to the school, free of charge.

Grade 6 students have been studying the growing impact of e-waste on the environment and are choosing to take action by hosting an e-waste collection event in partnership with Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES).

The school is asking community members donate their used, unwanted or broken electronics instead of throwing them in the trash. This program ensures that the electronics are disposed of properly at a recycling center and that materials in the electronics are reclaimed and reused.

The school is also accepting used clothing donations, which will be donated to the “Clothes for the Common Good” campaign to support the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy.
