East Garafraxa PS celebrates 50 years

East Garafraxa Public School recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

On Nov. 22, 1965, 250 students who came from nine small, one-roomed school houses in East Garafraxa Township came together to learn in the newly opened East Garafraxa Public School.

On Sept. 30, students, teachers and community members gathered at East Gary to celebrate the milestone.

Vegetable soup was made from the students’ harvest and was enjoyed by the whole school during the anniversary celebrations.
