Elementary students compete in skills competition

GUELPH, Ontario — The sounds of eager and excited students filled the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in Fergus on Wednesday as 585 students from 31 schools participated in the 6th Annual UGDSB Elementary Skills Competition. The day-long event was a great opportunity for students to develop their teamwork and hands-on problem-solving skills.

Below is a list of the top teams from the 12 events.

Intermediate

Tech (Design and Build) – Willow Road PS
Tech (Construction) – Victoria Cross PS
Tech (Green Energy) – Victoria Cross PS
Character Animation – Mitchell Woods PS
Lego Robotics – Waverley Drive PS
Lego Mechanics – King George PS
Workplace Health and Safety – Victoria Cross PS
TV/Video – Mitchell Woods PS

Junior

Tech (Design and Build) – Drayton Heights PS
Character Animation – Waverley PS
Lego Robotics – Hyland Heights PS
Lego Mechanics – F.A. Hamilton PS

Winners of the regional secondary school competitions, held earlier, are posted on the Ontario Youth and Apprenticeship Program website.
