Eramosa PS teacher and students donate hair to Wigs for Kids

February 3, 2017

ROCKWOOD, Ontario – Four brave ladies at Eramosa Public School got the big chop on Friday.

Students Ada, Abi and Sophie, along with grade 2/3 teacher Mrs. McKnight had their long hair tied back and cut, donating the locks to Wigs for Kids.

The school also raised nearly $750 for the organization, which provides hair replacement systems to children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues. Wigs for Kids provides the hair replacements to children at no cost to their families. The group relies on financial donations and hair donations in order to create custom wigs.

On Friday, students and parents gathered in the gym to cheer on their teacher and schoolmates.

Two hairdressers donated their time to do the big cut and then clean up each hairstyle following the assembly.
