Eramosa PS teacher wins Associate Teacher Award

June 8, 2021

ERAMOSA, Ontario – A teacher at Eramosa Public School was recently named the winner of the Schulich School Education Associate Teacher Award from Nipissing University.

This award recognizes an associate teacher that went above and beyond to help their teacher candidate thrive. Some of the criteria for the award application included consistent feedback and check-ins with the teacher candidate, positive reinforcement and criticism, providing resources and spending additional time assisting their candidate.

Allison Semanyk who teaches at Eramosa PS was nominated for this award by teacher candidate Jocelyn Dunsmoor. Dunsmoor said that the inspiration behind nominating Semanyk for this award was simply that watching Semanyk teach was the reassurance that Dunsmoor needed to know she had picked the right career.

Dunsmoor continued to say, “I had the privilege of learning from Allison who exuberates positivity to all the students and staff at Eramosa Public School. She is ‘firm but fair’ and constantly promotes inclusively and diversity in her classroom. When you enter Mrs. Semanyk’s class, it is immediately evident that she is a kind and caring teacher that puts her students first.”

Congratulations Allison for winning this award.
