GUELPH, Ontario — School volunteers and teachers head the list of the Upper Grand District School Board’s 10 Everyday Hero Award winners for 2010.
The annual awards, now three years old, celebrate the unsung heroes of the school system who go out of their way to make a difference in the lives and learning of students. This program is sponsored by the board’s 10 trustees.
The Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 2 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the E. L. Fox Auditorium at John F. Ross CVI, Meyer Drive, Guelph. Entertainment will be provided by the King George Jazz Band and the school’s Melody Dramatic. A reception will follow in the school’s cafeteria.

The criteria for the award are:
-
Performance of duties at a high level at all times
-
A significant school and/or system-related achievement
-
A specific innovation or achievement of significant value or importance to the system,
-
A unique circumstance considered worthy of recognition by the Board.
Candidates may be nominated by their colleagues, students, parents, and/or other system partners. The board received a total of 18 nominations this year.
