GCVI teams up with star of the Toronto cast of Hamilton for pandemic project

December 3, 2020

GUELPH, Ontario – The Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute choir has put together a special multitrack video project with Joseph Morales, star of the Toronto cast of Hamilton.

Music students are currently not allowed to play instruments or sing in classes this year due to pandemic safety protocol. As a result, the school bands and choirs have been putting together multitrack video projects where students record their own individual parts from home.

GCVI Band and Choir director, Dan Austin, decided to use this unique opportunity to do some collaborative projects with artists from across Canada. He reached out to Joseph Morales via Instagram and asked if he would be interested in joining the GCVI choir students for a recording of the hit song “Helpless” from the musical Hamilton.

Morales was thrilled to collaborate with the students and recreated his role as Hamilton virtually from his home in Los Angeles.

The video will be released on December 17 as part of the GCVI Online Winter Concert which will be shared with audiences via YouTube.

We look forward to seeing this performance and the GCVI Winter Concert later this month!
