Grand opening for new child care centre in Palmerston

For Immediate Release
April 11, 2019

PALMERSTON, Ontario – A grand opening to celebrate a new child care centre in the town of Palmerston will be held this April.

In 2015, the Upper Grand District School Board was approved for $1.54 million dollars through the Ministry of Education’s Capital Funding for New Construction of Child Care.

On April 17, 2019, officials from the UGDSB and the County of Wellington will be at the Palmerston Child Care and Learning Centre to celebrate the official opening of the facility.

The new child care centre will provide 49 new child care spaces for infants, toddlers and preschool aged children. The centre opened in October, 2018 and is operated by the County of Wellington.

“Child care is becoming an increasingly integrated system. We were pleased to work together with the County to help meet the needs of our families,” said Linda Busuttil, Chair of the UGDSB.

Luisa Artuso, Director of Early Years Division, County of Wellington, notes, “We are grateful for this opportunity to expand much needed high-quality licensed child care spaces in Palmerston for County residents.”

On April 17, the County of Wellington and UGDSB are hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony. Representatives from the Ministry, School Board and County, will be in attendance to celebrate the new child care spaces in the Palmerston community.
