Hundreds of eager job seekers to attend Youth Employment Opportunity Fair

May 9, 2018

GUELPH, Ontario – Hundreds of local students will get a jump start on entering the workforce this month.

On May 24, eager job seekers from across the Upper Grand District School Board will attend the 2018 Youth Employment Opportunity Fair.

The employment fair is a partnership between the UGDSB, UGDSB Specialist High Skills Major program, Wellington Catholic DSB, Career Education Council, and Second Chance Employment.

Youth who are completing grade 11 and 12 will attend the fair with their resumes ready. They will make connections with local employers who are looking for seasonal and longer-term employees. In many cases, interviews will be booked right on the spot.

The annual fair is an important event that gives students who are entering directly into the workforce after high school a chance to make connections with employers. The goal is that these connections lead to entry level positions, which eventually lead to meaningful careers.

EVENT DETAILS:

Employers big and small from across the region have been invited to participate. Media are welcome to attend.
