Inside the TJRC: Making lessons come to life in the TJRC Media Centre

April 19, 2018

The Terry James Resource Centre (TJRC) is the Upper Grand District School Board’s one-stop-shop for materials and resources for UGDSB staff. From the media centre and resource centre to 3D printing, virtual reality and online resources, the TJRC has everything staff need to succeed and pass that success on to UGDSB students. “Inside the TJRC” is an on-going series that will feature some of the amazing resources that the TJRC has to offer.

GUELPH, Ontario – On any given day, UGDSB staff can be found working away in the TJRC Media Centre, printing, laminating, making booklets and more. The Media Centre is a space that takes ideas for lesson plans and classroom instruction, and makes them come to life.

The Media Centre has been carefully designed to give staff the space to prepare and create their classroom resources.

It’s outfitted with a variety of useful workstations and services including printing and photocopying, laminating, poster printing, binding, cutters and work tables, and work space for computers and laptops.

New to the Media Centre is a Cricut Maker, a smart cutting machine, which replaced the TJRC’s die cut machine. The Cricut Maker can cut hundreds of materials quickly and precisely, allowing staff to unleash their creative potential for classroom projects.

TJRC staff are also on hand to provide training on all of the equipment.

UGDSB who are new or unfamiliar with the space can tour of the TJRC by booking a tour online. The 30-minute orientation introduces staff to the Media Centre and the Resource Centre.
