Inside the TJRC: Offering students and staff many resources throughout the summer

June 13, 2023

The Terry James Resource Centre (TJRC) is the Upper Grand District School Board’s one-stop-shop for materials and resources for UGDSB staff. From the media centre and resource centre to 3D printing, and online resources, the TJRC has everything staff need to succeed and pass that success on to UGDSB students. “Inside the TJRC” is an on-going series that will feature some of the amazing resources that the TJRC has to offer.

GUELPH, ON – The school year may be coming to an end, but staff at the Terry James Resource Centre (TJRC) want to remind you that students and staff can still access many wonderful resources over the summer.

UG students and staff can access the ‘always available’ resources all summer. These resources include eBooks and audiobooks on Sora for all ages, interests, and reading levels, videos and documentaries on Curio and ON-Core. Staff can also access the Professional Learning eLibrary. All of these great digital resources can be accessed through the TJRC website (for staff only) or UGCloud landing page (for students).

If you’ve never used Sora before, be sure to check out some of the support materials to help you with this application

Students looking to access digital resources over the summer can do so through the student UGCloud landing page.

The TJRC is pleased to announce that they will have extended hours for staff this summer on Fridays. The TJRC will be open to staff Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

A reminder to staff that if you don’t have time to get your projects in before the end of June, you can still submit projects or visit the TJRC five days a week in July and August. Staff can come in person to use the printers, laminators, and book binders or they can send a project request to the TJRC team. A reminder that board couriers do not run during the summer, therefore all project requests submitted must be collected in person in July and August. Visiting the TJRC in July or early August to complete your project also ensures minimal wait times.

Students and staff, if you don’t see the book you need on Sora or any of the digital platforms, you can suggest a purchase to TJRC staff by clicking here

TJRC staff wish you all a happy summer!
