Island Lake PS students name Orangeville’s new police dog

June 6, 2016

The students of Island Lake Public School have come up with a name for the newest member of the Orangeville Police Service.

Police recently held a contest to name their new police dog, all all-black male German Shepherd. Eleven elementary schools in Orangeville submitted a name on behalf of their school and, between May 25 to 31, members of the community voted on their favourite name.

RADAR is the winning name – submitted by Island Lake PS students and staff. The school will receive a plaque and visit from the canine team.

Canine RADAR will spend the next few months training with his new handler. The canine team will be ready to serve by September.

You can read more about RADAR on the Town of Orangeville’s website
