John F. Ross CVI wins a spot on Periodic Table Competition

April 3, 2019

GUELPH, Ontario – The United Nations General Assembly stated 2019 is the year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.

To celebrate, the University of Waterloo decided to turn this into a competition. The goal was to deconstruct the periodic table to represent the year the elements were discovered.

The university invited schools worldwide to participate in the competition by designing an original tile that tells the story of the discovery of an element.

Schools from more than 28 countries submitted student artwork to the competition and on March 20, John F. Ross CVI’s tile for magnesium was revealed as one of the winners.

Congratulations to all the students that participated in this competition.
