GUELPH, Ontario – A student from John F. Ross CVI has won second place in the 9th annual Canadian National Brain Bee.

Grade 12 student Stephanie finished second after a grueling day of neuroanatomy, patient diagnosis, multiple choice, recipe card short answers and oral questioning.

Stephanie was coached by John F. Ross teacher Susan Bender.

Finishing in first was student Nooran A. from Waterloo. Third place went to Ling Y. from Ottawa. Nooran will now represent Canada at the International Brain Bee World Championship this summer.

The annual competition, organized by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, tests students’ knowledge of neuroscience and skills in patient diagnosis and neuroanatomy.

The high school students at the national competition were the top students in their region, winning local brain bee competitions held across Canada.

Congratulations Stephanie!
