June Avenue PS students donate school supplies

May 16, 2023

GUELPH, ON – Students at June Avenue Public School have had a busy month collecting donations of school supplies for a school in Guatemala.

Each year, the June Avenue PS Helping Hands Club participates in a local and global initiative. The Helping Hands Club is made up of students in grades 3 to 6 and this year they wanted to host a School Tool Drive.

Since 2018, June Avenue PS has been working to support the charity One by One: The Latin America Project. One by One is located in Guelph, Ontario, and is a not-for-profit charity committed to improving the quality of life in Guatemala.

For this global initiative, students created announcements, slideshow presentations for each class and encouraged student participation across the school. After a very successful campaign, students are excited that their donations will be delivered to a school in Guatemala and to the community of Anibal Archila.

Earlier this year as their local initiative, the Helping Hands Club hosted a holiday food drive for the Guelph Food Bank.

Congratulations June Avenue PS on these great initiatives, we look forward to hearing what you plan to do next.
