King George students carry on message of hope at Terry Fox Run

September 29, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – Students at École King George PS didn’t let the damp conditions stop them from giving it their all on Thursday.

This morning, the school, along with many others in the Upper Grand District School Board, held their annual Terry Fox Run.

The Terry Fox School Run is one of the largest fundraising events in Canada, with millions of students across the country participating each year.

At King George, all students gathered in the gymnasium for an assembly before heading out. They watched a video about Terry Fox and two students gave a presentation about his life and 6-month Marathon of Hope.

Following the assembly, classes headed outside for the run, with younger students running around the school property and older students running to nearby St. Georges Park.

The Terry Fox Run has a long history in the Upper Grand DSB, with schools across the district raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years. This year, 76 UGDSB schools registered to participate.
