Kortright Hills PS hosting National Geographic Educator Certification workshops

March 23, 2018

GUELPH, Ontario – Upper Grand District School Board teachers are engaging in professional learning aimed at preparing the next generation of students to thrive in an interconnected world.

This March, two National Geographic Educator Certification workshops are being held at Kortright Hills Public School.

The professional learning program is free for K to 12 educators across all subject areas. It’s part of the larger National Geographic Educator Community, an online learning community for educators who are passionate about teaching students to think like explorers and become global thinkers.

The certification program seeks to inspire educators to teach students about the world in innovative and interdisciplinary ways. The experience provides teachers with professional development, connections and community with like-minded educators, and relationships and resources with National Geographic.

The certification process is entirely open-ended to allow teachers to create activities that are purposeful and meaningful for both themselves and their students.

The March 21 and 26 workshops were both completely full, however additional workshops will be offered in the spring.

UGDSB teachers interesting in participating may contact Cathy Dykstra at [email protected].
