Kortright Hills students working to keep their community warm this winter

February 3, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – Students from Kortright Hills Public School are working together to make sure members of their community stay warm this winter.

Through their fundraising event – Chase the Chill – students are collecting gently used hats, scarves, mittens and socks. Some students are also taking the time to make warm winter wear by knitting, crocheting and looming to support the cause.

One class is raising money to hire a bus that will deliver the donations and creations to locations in Guelph.

On Friday Feb. 12, students will travel to Shelldale Community Centre and Downtown Guelph to hang the clothing on trees, posts and benches.

Attached to each piece of winter clothing will be a note from the students, encouraging individuals who are cold to take and use the item.

Students are hoping that through their work and support from the community, Chase the Chill will help those in need this winter.
