May 24, 2018

GUELPH, Ontario – With the warm weather here, what better time to get outside with your family?

On Saturday June 16, parents/guardians of children ages 0-12 are invited to attend Power Off and Play. The free, interactive event will give families strategies for balancing non-educational screen time and boosting activity.

Power Off and Play is an initiative of the Balanced Technology Management (BTM) Committee with funding support from Energize Guelph. The BTM Committee is a regional collaborative that was formed to promote balanced technology use and healthy behaviours in children and youth. It’s composed of a group of local leaders including the Upper Grand District School Board, Wellington Catholic DSB, Homewood Community Addiction Services, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, YMCA/YWCA of Guelph, Guelph Police Services, Guelph Community Health Centre and several other local community partners.

At the event, parents/guardians will learn tips on balancing screen time as well as activities families can do together this summer.

Special guests at the event include the Grand River Conservation Authority, Guelph Quidditch, Play with Clay, Let’s Talk Science, Wild Ontario, and more.
