Norwell DSS student competing for Team Canada

January 29, 2020

PALMERSTON, Ontario – A student at Norwell District Secondary School has been selected to play for Canada’s Special Needs Hockey Team.

Rourke is a student at the school who plays for the Kitchener Ice Pirates in his spare time. The Ice Pirates are a special needs hockey team that provides children and adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to participate in a hockey program.

Because of the skills he has demonstrated with the Ice Pirates, Rourke was invited to play as part of Team Canada in Las Vegas from May 11-17.

This tournament will be held at City National Arena, where the Las Vegas Knights play their NHL games.

Congratulations Rourke! We can’t wait to hear how the team does in May.
