February 21, 2023
GUELPH, ON – The annual worldwide Pink Shirt Day campaign has returned to the UGDSB and to other school boards across the globe.
Since its inception many years ago, the Pink Shirt Day campaign has done so much in empowering students and other individuals to take a stand against bullying:
- Over 110 countries participated in Pink Shirt Day campaign activities in 2022
- Over 400,000 Pink Shirt Day t-shirts have been sold in support of anti-bullying causes and organizations
- Over $2.8 million proceeds have been raised and distributed for youth anti-bullying programs in western Canada
It is the mission of the UGDSB to create safe and inclusive learning and working environments for both our students and staff. A positive school climate is a safe, accepting and inclusive learning and teaching environment which allows every student to reach their full potential.
If a student, parent/guardian or staff wants to learn more about the UGDSB’s policies on bullying or how to report a bullying incident, you can visit here.
We look forward to seeing schools awash in a sea of pink shirts – be sure to tag us on Twitter @ugdsb.
