Ontario Government announces Early Learning schools for 2011-2012

GUELPH, Ontario — Five more Upper Grand elementary schools have received the go-ahead from the provincial government to offer the full day Early Learning (EL) program for four and five-year-olds beginning in September 2011, joining the 13 schools that will introduce the program for JK and K students this September.
The five additional schools are:
- Tytler PS, Guelph
- Laurine Avenue PS, Guelph
- Parkinson Centennial PS, Orangeville
- Centennial Hylands, ES, Shelburne
- Victoria Terrace, PS Fergus.
Information on the program will be provided to parents at the additional five schools during the upcoming school year.
Although Tytler and Laurine Avenue will be closing, the program will start at these schools in September 2011 and move with the students to the new King George Public School when it is rebuilt as a JK-grade 8 regular track (English) school. The timing for the rebuilding will be set following the outcome of the Central Guelph (FI) Accommodation Review, a decision on which is expected at the August 31 board meeting.
The schools where the program will be offered in September 2010 are: Willow Road PS – Guelph, Grand Valley and District PS – Grand Valley, Laurelwoods ES – Orangeville, Brant Avenue PS – Guelph. Gateway Drive PS – Guelph, Victoria Cross PS – Mount Forest, Princess Margaret PS – Orangeville, Priory Park PS – Guelph, Minto-Clifford PS – Harriston, Drayton Heights PS – Drayton, Arthur PS – Arthur, Erin PS – Erin, and John Black PS – Fergus.
