Parent Involement Committee seeks members

GUELPH, Ontario — The Upper Grand District School Board’s Parent Involvement Committee seeks new parent members who are interested in making a difference in education at the board level.

PIC plays a key role in support of student achievement and well-being, advising on the board’s plans for parent engagement in support of parents, families and the community. It also serves as a resource to schools and school councils and hosts an annual board-wide spring event.

Members serve one or two-year terms that begin in September 2013. The committee meets about seven times during the school year on the fourth Monday of the month.

“PIC members provide the board with feedback on a variety of topics and makes suggestions on how we can enhance meaningful parent involvement throughout our system”, says board chair, Mark Bailey.

PIC invites parents to apply for new positions on the committee. It is not necessary to be currently serving on a school council. The following criteria are considered when selecting representatives:
