Parkinson Centennial PS unveils new Library Learning Commons

September 19, 2016

ORANGEVILLE, Ontario – The excitement was palpable as students at Parkinson Centennial PS toured an innovative new place in their school.

Parkinson Centennial unveiled its new Library Learning Commons to students on Monday, a project that saw the total transformation of the school’s library and computer lab this summer.

One at a time, each class in the school toured the transformed library, guided by PCPS students and Teacher-Librarian M. Rea.

The Library Learning Commons features a bright, open design, with designated areas for the school’s JK to grade 2 students, grades 3 to 5 and grades 6 to 8. The space also features stations where students can draw, places to read and research, computers stations for students to look up books on a 3D printer, and the ever-popular Makerspace.

Parkinson Centennial is the latest Upper Grand DSB to transform its library into a Library Learning Commons, reimagining the room as a centre for innovation, problem-solving and creativity. To learn more about Library Learning Commons in the UGDSB, visit the board website.
