Salem PS students are focused on nature

November 17, 2016

ELORA, Ontario – Students at Salem PS are enjoying learning and exploring in nature through the Focus in Nature program. The Focus in Nature program is funded by the Upper Grand District School Board’s outdoor education fund.

Understanding the importance of outdoor learning, the UGDSB created a fund to be used to focus on environmental stewardship, including bringing the classroom outdoors. Outdoor activity and learning helps students by positively impacting their physical and mental health, decreasing stress levels and helping to provide motivation.

Grade 3 and 4 students at Salem PS enjoyed their outdoor learning by exploring the community and exploring nature. Over the next several weeks, students in other grades at Salem PS will be participating in outdoor education to help enrich learning experiences.
