SHSM students at CCVI construct indoor vertical garden

March 10, 2020

GUELPH, Ontario – Grade 11 and 12 students in the Specialist High Skills Major program (SHSM) at Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute have been busy constructing an indoor vertical garden.

This tower was constructed in the Environmental Resources and Management and Environmental Science classroom.

The Nutritower will allow students to grow a variety of plants, while observing how this indoor self-sustaining technology reuses water.

It will grow such plants as basil, parsley and more. While watching the plants grow, students will be able to learn about growing plants with limited resources in the environment.

Students are very excited to be working with this technology. This tech is not new to our board, similar projects have been constructed at Centre Dufferin DHS, College Heights SS, Erin DHS and Westside SS.
