Student and Parent/Guardian Expression of interest: UGDSB First Nations, Métis & Inuit Education Council

The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) has a First Nations, Métis & Inuit Education Council comprised of treaty partners, Indigenous community members, parent and student representatives, Trustees and the UGDSB Indigenous Education department. This group gathers six times a year (on the first Monday of the month, except for September) to advise on the boards on curriculum, initiatives, policies and more relating to Indigenous education.

Student Opportunity:

There is ONE space for a First Nation, Métis, Inuit secondary student on this committee from WELLINGTON COUNTY. This position term is for two school years. You must be a current UGDSB student who is planning to be in the board for at least two years starting September 2023. If you are interested in participating, please take a moment to fill out this form

Parent/Guardian Opportunity:

There are TWO spaces for First Nation, Métis, Inuit parents on this committee. Position term is for two school years. If you are interested in participating, please take a moment to fill out this form. We are looking for one representative from Dufferin County, and one representative from Wellington County.

Most meetings take place online from 4-6pm with the first meeting of the year October 2, 2023. There is also a strategic planning meeting October 4-5 on Six Nations for those who are able. The final meeting of the year is in June and will be face to face at Island Lake Conservation area at the Land-based and Indigenous Education Centre.
